Iceland was by far one of my most favorite places visited yet. Prior to arriving, I researched so many different pit stops, things to see, and places to eat. I was able to compile a pretty extensive list before we arrived and, I must say, I am so glad I researched so much as it was quite overwhelming. We rented a car for our trip, so my pre-planned ideas worked perfectly. Although every stop was amazing.....Here are my top 5 favorite.

Snorkeling in Slifra:

Snorkeling between the tectonic plates is something I never imagined I would tell people I did. The water was one degrees above freezing...the multiple layers of clothing on was a little obnoxious...but the experience was unforgettable. The clearness of the water and the views were beautiful.

The Blue Lagoon:

This is probably the most "touristy" thing that we did on our trip. We stopped here as soon as we landed. Many people have mixed reviews about whether it is worth it to go or not...I say "DO IT!" It can be a little overwhelming when you first arrive, but once you are in the lagoon...there is nothing like it. You can grab a cocktail or put on a mask...just make sure to give yourself about 2 hours to hang out. The restaurant on site is also delicious.

Pylsu Vagininn:

Apparently, Iceland has the best hot dogs on earth. Being from the Philadelphia area, I think we could compete. We were originally recommended to go to a place in Reykjavik--I was not too impressed. During our Glacier hike, we asked our tour guide where her favorite place to get a hot dog was. She recommended Pylsu Vagininn....we were not disappointed. With options such as a hot dog with french fries or one with Doritos...this place was to die for.

Skógafoss Falls:

As you enter the falls, there is an informational sign that explains the legend of a "hidden treasure" at the bottom of this waterfall. Honestly, I would not have even understood any of this had it not been for my husband. When he started walking closer and closer to the waterfalls, I was so confused as to what he was doing....until I saw the rainbow! This hidden gem is one of many beautiful reasons to stop here. There are steps to the right of the falls that you must definitely climb to!

Jökulsárlón aka Glacier Lagoon:

This Lagoon is apart of Vatnajökull national park. We visited this during our stay in Vik. While it was about 2 hours from our AirBnB, it was totally worth the drive. We were in awe of the water, the glaciers, and the seals swimming around while we watched. There is a boat ride that you can take around the glaciers also!
